We finally made it.

Friday, August 9, 2013
KryssAndMeSo, we made it home. It took 4 days, 2,200 miles and a ton of stops for coffee but we did it. I'm typing this out in my old bedroom, boxes and clothes lying around everywhere.
I still can't believe I'm here, it hasn't set in yet and neither has it for Kryss. We keep telling each other, "I still don't feel like we left El Paso. This is crazy."
I've been waking up every morning and my first thoughts are "Woah, I'm still actually here."
I've been going through my drawers and looking through old boxes and yearbooks, thinking about how crazy time flies by. Forgetting about the birthday cards and projects I've created years prior. I'm running my fingers through my books on the shelves forgetting the great reads I've got that I left here. I can't wait to open them up again.
I'm nervous to be back. I feel like I made the right decision, though. In the end it'll be a learning experience. I think it's good I decided to come back, especially now that I'm in a much better state of mind and I'm not the same person I was that left. I'm coming back home stronger and ready to face the challenges ahead. I'll come back here and make positive memories and let go of the ones that have been here prior to my leaving for Texas over a year ago.
I've got this amazing boy to build this new life with. Someone who I am thankful for every day and someone that continuously makes me glad I am alive.
I can't wait to share the stories on the road with you and show you the amazing sites I was able to experience.

Coffee date & final goodbyes.

Friday, August 2, 2013
coffeedateYesterday we spent it packing the last few items we had laying around. We had a few errands to cross off the list and one of those was saying goodbye to a very good friend of ours. We all met while working at my previous job and it was hard saying goodbye. We didn't hang out much, but we'd text whenever we had any issues and we'd give each other a quick pep-talk. We've all been struggling in this city for some time, her and I both dying to get out of here. It's sad that we're leaving while she is going to be stuck here for at least another year because of her husband being stationed here. I felt a little guilty telling her how excited I was to head back home knowing she misses her hometown as much as I do.
We headed to a coffee shop I've been wanting to check out for some time and spent it catching up on what's been going on in our lives. Of course, the time flew by and before we knew it we had to hug and say our final goodbyes.
She doesn't live too far away from New York, so hopefully we can schedule a time to meet again and catch up once she is able to get out of here.
Today we're spending it with his family and doing some complete last minute additions to the trip. We're going to hit the road later on today after we have a final dinner with his family and say our goodbyes to them. I'm not looking forward to it at all. I've grown to love his family and it's going to be difficult not being able to see them like I do every single day. I can only imagine how difficult it's going to be for Kryss.
