Explored the desert yesterday.

Yesterday, after shopping for vacation, my sister and I took the dogs out to the desert to play around for awhile. Behind the high school we live by, there's a huge, empty desert surrounding it. We decided we'd go out there and see what it had and if it would be good for the dogs to play in. We wanted to bring them somewhere people didn't go so they could freely run around. As she was playing with them, I decided I'd explore a bit. Apparently, people decided because it was deserted and empty, they would empty their trash. There was tires laying around everywhere. For some reason, I became fascinated by the trash people were throwing out. I didn't touch any of it, or take any home but it just amused me. It probably sounds a bit weird, but I love finding things people throw out or consider junk. This stuff was junk, but it makes me wonder the story behind it, or the reason they finally decided to get rid of it. 4 3 2 1 6

Now, as you can see.. they clearly threw out broken items and things they no longer could use. The thing that really gets me if I wonder the story behind it. Were the items handed down or brand new? What did these parts go to? There was a ton more items but these were some of the coolest ones.
I was feeling bad ass like Dora exploring and seeing the view until we decided to walk the dogs farther down the path. I was ahead of my sister with Charlie (one pictured on the left) when I froze and yelled for my sister to come here quickly. I found a dog. It was a Pitbull that died. I'm not sure how, there was no clear wounds showing or any signs of abuse. I'm not sure if it got hit by something or if someone decided they would leave it in the desert after it died. I've never seen a dead animal besides a squirrel on the road, so this freaked me the hell out. I hate animals being abused or seeing an animal dead. After that happened, the adventurer in me just wanted to get the hell out of there.

  2. I love photographing things like this too, the photo then becomes a story and each person who looks at it has a different story to tell, the mirror shot is great!

So sad about the pitbull though... how awful.

  3. That's really common here in AZ. People are always dragging their stuff and dumping it in the desert. It's also common to hear of people who have taken unwanted pets out to the desert to leave them. Our neighbor is a horrible offender for things like this.

My boss and her husband were out in the desert about a year & a half ago, using their telescope. They heard a noise in the scrub, and a dog came running up to them. He was fine, other than being really hungry & thirsty. They ended up adopting him and saving him.
